Tri-County Public Schools in Karlstad, MN joined Pro-West to celebrate GIS Day on November 16th, with students learning and having fun with location technology and mapping.
With the help of Pro-West GIS Solution Specialist Kyle Wikstrom, a 2007 graduate of Tri-County, the students learned the importance of maps in solving critical real-world issues. A hands-on computer activity included analyzing the locations of particular types of crime in Washington, DC, and the day also included geography discussions and career exploration.
An important date in the industry calendar, GIS Day is an international movement and celebration of geographic technology that teaches people about geography and real-world applications of GIS. It dedicates one fun day to discovering and exploring the benefits of GIS for everyone, showcasing its uses, and building and nurturing a local GIS community.
Tri-County was ranked among Newsweek’s top 500 high schools in America in 2016.
