After a two-year absence, URISA GIS Valuation Technologies Conference is back in person for 2022! The conference will take place in New Orleans, LA, March 27-30.

URISA GIS Valuation Technologies (or GIS Val/Tech) is known as the national event for Assessors, land records professionals and GIS experts to connect and share insight to help improve the accuracy and efficiency of land records processes - such as property tax assessment - for their organizations' staff and external users. A wide-ranging agenda promises no shortage of opportunities to learn and be inspired with modern technology and compelling use cases.

This workshop will provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of reading legal descriptions, and the opportunity to take your skills to the next level by exploring some more advanced topics. You will leave this training with knowledge and confidence in your ability to accurately interpret legalism in your daily work as a land records professional. We will cover topics including terminology, original survey/PLSS, measurement, types of legal descriptions, pitfalls to avoid, and more. Hands-on exercises and examples are a core part of the class, allowing you to put your skills into practice and ask questions to make sure the material is well understood.

Transforming the Parcel Management Process with Parcel Fabric in Pro

Learn how Oklahoma County converted its parcel data from MicroStation to Esri’s Parcel Fabric in ArcGIS Pro to achieve several goals: creating and maintaining accurate data, eliminating editing inefficiency, and increasing production in the county’s mapping process. During the session we will share:
- Why the Parcel Fabric made sense for the county
- What the migration process looked like
- Challenges encountered and lessons learned along the way
- The process of maintaining data in a single parcel fabric instead of multiple MicroStation files
- The value the county is achieving as a result
